(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant [then Lieutenant, Junior Grade] Lewis A. Patterson, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Commander of a Ventura Medium Bomber in Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-FIVE (VB-135), in Fleet Air Wing 4, over Paramushiru and Shimushy Islands on 14 June 1944.
