Kennedy, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Manager, U.S. Navy Ship Yard, New York, from 9 December 1941 to 20 April 1945, and Director of Shore Divisions, Bureau of Ships, 23 April 1945 to the cessation on hostilities in September 1945.
