Tyler, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Assistant Director, and later, Director of Research and Development Division, Bureau of Ordnance, and Special Assistant to the Director of the Office of Research and Development, during World War II.
