Murrell, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Head of the Acquisition and Conversion Branch, Shipbuilding Division, and later, Head Auxiliary Type Section, Shipbuilding Division, Bureau of Ships, from November 1940 to February 1943.
