Kennedy, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Medical Officer-in-Charge Neuro-Psychiatry Division, Bureau of Medicine during the national emergency and World War II until 23 March 1945.
