(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Captain John A. Hayes, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Head of Boiler Section, Shipbuilding Division, Bureau of Ships, from January 1942 to the cessation of hostilities. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Captain Hayes and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
