Smith-Hutton, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Intelligence Officer on the staff of Commander in Chief, United States Fleet and Chief of Naval Operations from 18 December 1942 to 12 October 1944.
