(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade Patrick Joseph Walsh (NSN: 0-140323), United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for gallantry in action against the enemy as Commanding Officer of the Armed Guard aboard the S.S. PATRICK J. HURLEY on 12 September 1942. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
