    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Arnold G. Plemons, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action at Torpedo Data Computer Operator aboard the U.S.S. SUNFISH (SS-281), during the SEVENTH War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy-controlled waters of the Pacific Ocean Area, from 22 June 1944 to 1 August 1944. Lieutenant Plemons distinguished himself by outstanding performance in a long and bitter surface battle between the submarine of which he was an office, and a Japanese warships. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
