Weakley, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commander of a destroyer division, Commanding Officer of a United States Navy warship, and commander of two task groups in the South Atlantic area during World War II.
