Lucas (NSN: 0-320378), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Pilot of a Torpedo bomber embarked in U.S.S. KITKUN BAY over the Marianas, Palaus and Philippine Islands during the Battle for Leyte Gulf during World War II.
