Holligan (NSN: 0-395193), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Co-Pilot of an airplane in Patrol Bombing Squadron TWENTY-SEVEN (VPB-27) over Okinawa, the Yellow Sea, and China coast from 29 March 1945 to 21 June 1945.
