Perry (NSN: 6581930), United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal (Posthumously) for heroic conduct aboard the U.S.S. MONTEREY (CVL-26), during a typhoon which resulted in fires on his ship while off the Philippine Islands on 18 December 1944.
