    The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Alfred Frederick Jacobson (NSN: 0-124104), United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. Pressing home a vigorous attack against enemy shipping in Kahili Harbor, 17 July 1943, Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Jacobson contributed to the sinking of seven Japanese vessels and the destruction of 49 planes despite tremendous anti-aircraft and fighter opposition.
