The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Ensign Emory Speer Wages (NSN: 0-104447), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in the Solomon Islands area on 7 August 1942. With complete disregard for his own life, Ensign Wages courageously sought out and destroyed enemy anti-aircraft positions, resulting in severe loss of life and equipment to the Japanese, enabling our forces to occupy the area without opposition.
