The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Chief Torpedoman’s Mate Stanley Thomas Piekos, United States Navy, for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy for unhesitatingly entering the superstructure of his submarine in order to accomplish repairs during an aggressive and highly successful war patrol in enemy-controlled waters during World War II.
