(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain John W. Smith, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from August 1965 through December 1967, as Deputy Chief, European Division, Plans and Policy Directorate, Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and as the principal staff officer in the South European Branch of that Division.
