(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Gendarme Prosper E. Barbereau, Army of France, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving as a Traffic Policeman in the French Army, in action against enemy forces at Normandy, France, on 4 August 1944. Gendarme Barbereau’s outstanding accomplishments, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the Armed Forces of the Allied Nations.
