Williams, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit with Combat “V” for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States while attached to Composite Squadron SIXTY-ONE (VC-61), and serving with Fighter Squadron NINETY-ONE (VF-91), from 1 February to 14 April 1953. (Lieutenant Williams is authorized to wear the Combat “V”.)
