(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade John William Shook, Jr. (NSN: 0-521443), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving with Fighter Squadron EIGHT HUNDRED EIGHTY-FOUR (VF-884), embarked in U.S.S. KEARSARGE (CV-33), in action against enemy aggressor forces in Korea on 29 September 1952.
