(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Airman Robert E. Kronenwetter, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy. Airman Kronenwetter was instrumental in saving almost 50 first-line combatant aircraft from destruction when a fire broke out at Fleet Aircraft Service Squadron FIVE Detachment, Coast Guard Air Station, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on 30 July 1951.
