Frances Wilson was commissioned in the Marine Corps upon graduation in 1972 from Michigan State University. She was the Honor Graduate and recipient of the Leadership Award from the United States Marine Corps Women Officer Basic School. She retired in 2009 as a United States Marine Corps Lieutenant General.
