    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fourth Grade Beverly E. Johnson, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with , 761st Tank Battalion, XX Corps, in action against the enemy near Klingsmunster, Germany, on 23 March 18945. Technician Fourth Grade Johnson, serving as Tank Commander of a Reconnaissance Platoon, displayed exceptional courage, initiative, and bravery in this assignment. Disregarding the heavy enemy artillery and sniper fire Technician Fourth Grade Johnson advanced and successfully completed the mission of clearing a road block. His action and courage under fire was responsible for the execution of the mission assigned and was a great inspiration to the men serving with him, enabling them to move forward and effect a capture of a number of the enemy. The superior action displayed by Technician Fourth Grade Johnson, at the risk of his personal safety, is worthy of high praise and is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
