    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Airman’s Medal to Captain Raymond Melvin Warner, Jr. (AFSN: FR-70337), United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life while serving with the 547th Tactical Control Squadron at Phu Cat Air Base, Republic of Vietnam, on 18 January 1967. On that date, Captain Warner arrived at the scene of a fire in a barracks as personnel were abandoning fire fighting attempts due to exploding small arms ammunition and a rumor that hand grenades were stored in the burning room. Captain Warner and two other individuals recommenced fighting the fire until it was under control and the base fire department arrived. The exemplary courage and heroism displayed by Captain Warner reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Air Force.
