(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to First Lieutenant (Air Corps) William V. Amrein (ASN: 0-695141), United States Army Air Forces, for heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy of the United States while serving with the VII Fighter Command, SEVENTH Air Force, in the Pacific Theater of Operations, during World War II. The exemplary courage and heroism displayed by First Lieutenant Amrein, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
