After completing an air assault, Major Lenhart led his company against an enemy bunker complex, continuously exposing himself to heavy hostile fire in order to direct and control the unit. As they advanced, clearing each bunker, he skillfully deployed his men to insure that all the hostiles were routed and that none could maneuver to the rear of his advancing troops. With complete disregard for his own personal safety, Major Lenhart moved throughout the area, ordering the attack and encouraging his men until the sweep was completed late that night.
