The Secretary of the Army of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Army Commendation Medal with Combat “V” to Specialist Justin A. Hillary, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious service and heroic efforts to save lives and property during an indirect fire attack on 16 July 2010 at Forward Operating Base SALERNOI, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 10-11. Specialist Hillary’s fast and clear headed response under pressure enabled the fire department to maintain and sustain complete control of the effect of the rocket attack in a timely and effective manner. Specialist Hillary’s acts reflect great credit upon himself, the 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, the 101st Sustainment Brigade (Lifeliners) and the United States Army.
