Capron (ASN: ER-13991250), United States Army, for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy at approximately 2400 hours on 3 August 1966 by voluntarily exposing himself to great personal hazard by participating in the rescue of three individuals who were trapped in an automobile accidentally overturned in a lake. Private Capron, through keen observation and good judgment first noticed the car in the lake and then rushed to the scene. Private Capron then heroically dove into the water and worked inside the immersed vehicle to help save the men trapped therein.
