The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Colonel (Infantry) John H. Lattin, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from June 1952 to January 1953. [This award supersedes award of the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service from 1 July 1957 to 5 October 1960 as announced in General Orders Number 79, Headquarters, XXI Corps, dated 5 October 1960 and award of the Army Commendation Medal (First Oak Leaf Cluster) for meritorious service from 13 December 1960 to 22 November 1961 as announced in General Orders Number 34, Headquarters, Joint U.S. Military Mission for Aid to Turkey, dated 22 November 1961.]
