(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Private First Class William J. Quick, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving as a Medical Aidman with the 81st Infantry Division in September 1943, in the Palau Islands, when he administered first aid to his squad leader despite heavy enemy fire. Although twice wounded himself in the action, he refused to have his wounds treated until he evacuated his comrade to a place of safety.
