The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant [then Corporal] Francisco Lucio (ASN: 37566070), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 125th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron (Mechanized) (Separate), in support of the 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 28 February 1945, in Germany. Sergeant Lucio was a member of a group which fought savagely to reach a point on a friendly flank and destroy an enemy machine gun position. Despite intense enemy fire, the group gallantly moved to the objective. Sergeant Lucio’s heroic actions reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Armed Forces.
