The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Felix Bryk (ASN: 33338588), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 222d Infantry Regiment, 42d Infantry Division, in action on 17 March 1945, in the Hardt Mountains, France. When his company was held up by enemy troops strongly entrenched in a heavily wooded area, Private Bryk boldly exposed himself to hostile small arms and mortar fire to locate the hostile positions. Private Bryk then moved forward to within fifty yards of the enemy positions where he was mortally wounded. His heroic action in drawing hostile fire enabled the rest of his platoon to eliminate the enemy strongpoint and permitted the continued advance of the company.
