    The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Captain & Aide-de-Camp George Edward Gouraud, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 30 November 1864, while serving with U.S. Volunteers, in action at Honey Hill, South Carolina. While under severe fire of the enemy, which drove back the command, Captain Gouraud rendered valuable assistance in rallying the men.
