The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Glenn F. Doty (ASN: US-55063773), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company C, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 26 July 1951 in the vicinity of Taeusan, Korea. On this date Company C was attacking in an effort to capture the high ground held by the enemy. Private Doty, with the forward elements of his unit, voluntarily and with complete disregard for his own safety, advanced toward the enemy bunker throwing hand grenades and inflicting numerous casualties upon them. He continued this heroic action until he was fatally wounded by enemy fire. His courage and devotion to duty were an inspiration to all who observed him. The gallantry in action displayed by Private Doty reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
