    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Colonel (Infantry) Andrew Joseph Adams (ASN: 0-18579), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Chief of Staff of the 7th Armored Division Trains, 7th Armored Division, in action against the enemy in Belgium, on 20 December 1944. Colonel Adams performed the almost impossible, sending ammunition by long, about routes, and at times fighting off far-ranging Germans with a collection of cooks, clerks, truck drivers, mechanics, and others. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Colonel Adams, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
