The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Andrew Joseph Adams (ASN: 0-18579), United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility as G-3, U.S. Army Pacific and as Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics, Continental Army Command, during the period from September 1963 to May 1966. [This award supersedes award of the Legion of Merit (First Oak Leaf Cluster) awarded to General Adams for exceptionally meritorious service during the period September 1963 to May 1966 as announced in General Orders Number 100, Headquarters, United States Army, Pacific, dated 10 May 1966.]
