(UNCONFIRMED – Citation Needed): First Lieutenant (Infantry)` George William Orton, United States Army, is reported to have been awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in connection with military operations against the enemy while serving with the 160th Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division, near Kumsong, Korea. As a platoon leader in Company E, he personally led his men up an enemy hill twice during a concerted action.
