The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to First Lieutenant Brian Keith Schwab, United States Army, for valorous achievement on 25 August 2005, while serving as the Embedded Training Team Mentor, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Kandak, 1st Brigade, 203d Corps, Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix, Office of Security Cooperation-Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. While on patrol outside the village of Landar in Tere Zayi District, Khowsts Province, First Lieutenant Schwab’s patrol came under enemy fire. Without hesitation, he deployed his Afghan soldiers into a security perimeter and single-handedly assaulted the enemy position. His rapid actions resulted in the capture of three enemy personnel with zero friendly casualties. First Lieutenant Schwab’s actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service reflect great credit upon himself, the United States Central Command, and the United States Army.
