(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant (MC) Stuart C. Knox, United States Naval Reserve, was awarded a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star for gallantry in action while serving as a Medical Officer with the SECOND Marine Division during the landings at Empress Augusta Bay on 1 November 1943. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
