Simmons (ASN: 38338588), United States Army, was awarded a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star (Posthumously) for gallantry in action in connection with combat operations against the enemy while serving with Troop G, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division in the Pacific Theater of Operations on 22 October 1944.
