(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: First Lieutenant Walter T. Mayberry (MCSN: 0-11227), United States Marine Corps, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot in Marine Fighting Squadron ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-THREE (VMF-123), in action against enemy Japanese forces in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II.
