(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Colonel (Air Corps) Dyke F. Meyer (AFSN: AO-18011/0-18011), United States Army Air Forces, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the NINTH Air Force, in aerial operations in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Colonel Meyer, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.

The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Colonel Meyer and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. [This award supersedes the award of the Legion of Merit to Colonel Meyer, for services from 15 September 1944 to 1 May 1945, as published in General Orders 198, Headquarters United States Forces, European Theater, 21 August 1945.
