The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to Lieutenant Colonel Bruce Allan Jensen (AFSN: FR-20442/AO-1863453), United States Air Force, for gallantry in action in connection with military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force as pilot of an attack aircraft of the 505th Air Commando Squadron, 56th Air Commando Wing, SEVENTH Air Force, in Southeast Asia on 26 April 1967. On that date, Colonel Jensen was engaged in a night armed reconnaissance flight over a heavily-fortified and mountainous area when he detected a hostile forces’ vehicular convoy. Despite a hail of ground fire surrounding his aircraft, the loss of his tactical navigation system, and extremely adverse weather conditions, Colonel Jensen proceeded to attack the convoy and succeeded in destroying it. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Colonel Jensen has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
