(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Major Ralph Henry Jacobson, United States Air Force, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving with the 14th Special Operations Squadron, Nha Trang Air Base, Republic of Vietnam, in action against the enemy during 299 combat missions over Southeast Asia from 1969 to 1970. His devotion to duty and courage under all conditions serve as an inspiration to his fellow flyers. His actions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Ralph Henry Jacobson, United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Jacobson distinguished himself as Director of Space Systems and Command, Control, Communications, Deputy Chief of Staff, Research and Development and Acquisition, Headquarters United States Air Force from 1 Jun 1980 to 31 August 1981. During this period General Jacobson’s inspiring leadership and flawless management of more than 65 programs with an annual expenditure of over four billion dollars resulted in substantial improvements to the operational capabilities of the Air Force and the national defense and brought us to the threshold of a new era in space travel. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Jacobson reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
