The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Colonel Arthur F. Dennis (AFSN: FV-1911974), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 pilot near Hanoi, North Vietnam on 2 January 1967. On that date, Lieutenant Colonel Dennis piloted an aircraft on a combat mission for an extended period, drawing fire and suppressing surface-to-air combat. This attack on the North Vietnamese air arm was greatly aided by the unselfish display of courage and airmanship by Lieutenant Colonel Dennis. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Colonel Dennis reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
