Walbridge (AFSN: FR-31861), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 Pilot, on 17 January 1967. On that date, Captain Walbridge was number four in a flight of four F-105s directed to attack a vital railroad and steel mill complex in North Vietnam. With complete disregard for extremely heavy and accurate flak, Captain Walbridge executed his attack and delivered his ordnance on the target complex. His daring attack and accurate bombing resulted in severe damage to the hostile force. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Walbridge reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Walbridge (AFSN: FR-31861), United States Air Force, for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force while serving with the 44th Tactical Fighter Squadron, in action at Hoa Lac, North Vietnam, on 1 May 1967. On that date, Major Walbridge was the mission commander for a force of twenty F-105 Thunderchiefs assigned to strike the heavily defended Hoa Lac Airfield. In a consummate display of professional skill and personal courage, Major Walbridge initiated the attack despite intense anti-aircraft fire, surface-to-air missiles and hostile MiG fighters that were harassing the force. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Major Walbridge has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Walbridge (AFSN: FR-31861), United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 Thunderchief Pilot near Hanoi, North Vietnam, on 29 April 1967. On that date, Major Walbridge was tasked to strike the Hanoi Railroad/Highway Bridge, five miles east of the center of Hanoi. Disregarding the numerous surface-to-air missiles and the intense flak, Major Walbridge delivered his bombs on target with pinpoint accuracy making further use of this important supply route unusable without extensive repair. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Major Walbridge reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

On that date, Major Walbridge was a flight member of a strike against this vital re-supply and depot area. Major Walbridge, without regard to his own personal safety, ingressed to the target and delivered his ordnance under extremely heavy surface-to-air missile, anti-aircraft, and MiG 21 defenses. Post strike Photographic reconnaissance showed the areas assigned to Major Walbridge to be totally destroyed. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Walbridge reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Walbridge (AFSN: FR-31861), United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of line of 22 July 1958. On that date, Lieutenant Walbridge, with complete disregard for his own safety, swam to the aid of a drowning individual struggling in the heavy surf of the Mediterranean Sea off the Lebanese coast. Without thought for his own preservation, and battling the turbulent waves and strong undertow, he persevered in his humanitarian efforts until he was able to bring the victim to a place of safety on the shore. The exemplary courage, and heroism displayed by Lieutenant Walbridge reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Walbridge (AFSN: FR-31861), United States Air Force, for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force while serving with the 44th Tactical Fighter Squadron, in action at Bac Giang, North Vietnam, on 24 May 1967. On that date, Major Walbridge led a force of eight F-105 Thunderchief aircraft against the heavily defended Bac Giang Railroad/Highway Bridge. Despite intense anti-aircraft and surface to air missiles that were launched at the force, Major Walbridge delivered his ordnance load of three thousand pound bombs precisely on target. A direct hit on the bridge was observed from Major Walbridge’s bombs and that portion of the bridge was completely destroyed. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Major Walbridge has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Walbridge (AFSN: FR-31861), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 Thunderchief Pilot at Thain Nuygen, North Vietnam, on 11 March 1967. On that date, Major Walbridge was the element leader of a flight of four F-105 Thunderchiefs assigned to strike the largest iron and steel plant in North Vietnam. In spite of the heaviest and most accurate hostile fire ever witnessed he delivered his bombs on this extremely vital target. During his bomb run, his aircraft was tossed violently up-side down by a bursting 85 millimeter shell. He quickly righted his aircraft and dropped his bombs accurately on the target. The professional competence, and aerial skill, devotion to duty displayed by Major Walbridge reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
