The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Frederick Gregory Tolman (AFSN: FV-3024689), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 Pilot in Southeast Asia on 21 January 1967. On that date, Major Tolman was a member of the first flight to successfully attack a major bridge on a key hostile supply network. Preceding flights on the same date had been forced to turn back prior to the target due to the heavy defenses but Major Tolman proceeded to the target area and successfully interdicted the target despite intense hostile ground fire. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Major Tolman reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
