The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Jack Warren Hunt (AFSN: FR-45828), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as the pilot of an F-105 Thunderchief over Southeast Asia on 23 April 1967. On that date, Major Hunt was the element leader in a flight of fighter-bombers which successfully attacked and heavily damaged a major target. After completing post strike refueling, Major Hunt returned to hostile territory to perform RESCAP operations. He was largely instrumental in the successful recovery of two downed aircrewmen in spite of adverse weather conditions. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Major Hunt reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
