Robinson (MCSN: 0-836), United States Marine Corps, was awarded a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit with Combat “V” for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Chief of Staff, FIFTH Marine Division during the preparation and combat phases of the Iwo Jima Campaign in the Pacific Theater of Operations during the period from 10 October 1944 through 26 March 1945.
