The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant (Air Corps) Charles E. Goff, United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement while serving as Co-pilot on a B-17 airplane on many heavy bombardment missions over enemy-occupied Continental Europe. Displaying outstanding airmanship and skillfully assisting his pilot on sustained operations, Lieutenant Goff’s actions have been a contributing factor to the success of each of these missions among which were the operations over Berlin, Germany, 6 March 1944; Brunswick, Germany, 15 March 1944; and Berlin, Germany, 22 March 1944. The courage, coolness and skill displayed by Lieutenant Goff on all these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
