Finn (ASN: 0-1300303), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with an Infantry Company of the 130th Infantry Regiment, 33d Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces near Caurigan, Luzon, Philippine Islands, on 19 and 20 February 1945. When the advance on an enemy position near Cauringan was held up, Lieutenant Finn, by courage and initiative, successfully led his men in an attack that eventually broke the Japanese lines. The enemy later counterattacked in great force and as they were finally routed, Lieutenant Finn fell, mortally wounded. First Lieutenant Finn’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty at the cost of his life, exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the 33d Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
